## V5 Diamond Mechanics

1. **Base Entry**: Empty or reset tiles cost **$0.10 USDC**.
2. **Tiered Pricing**: Repaint costs escalate:
   - Tier 1 (paints 1-5): 1.1× multiplier
   - Tier 2 (paints 6-10): 1.5× multiplier
   - Tier 3 (paints 11+): 2.0× multiplier
3. **Survival Timer**: First paint = 600s. Each repaint adds 30s, capped at **900s (15 min)**.
4. **Payout**: Winners receive:
   - **Tile Bounty**: 85% of all fees spent on that tile
   - **Surplus Surge Bonus**: `P = 0.25 × max(0, Reservoir − $25)` — one payout per block

## Strategy: Hunting the Surplus Surge

The **Surplus Surge** is the key to high ROI:

- When Reservoir > $25.00, a surplus exists
- Winner of ANY tile receives 25% of that surplus instantly
- **Optimal play**: Target tiles with low paint counts ($0.10 entry) that are close to expiry when the bonus is high
- A single $0.10 paint can return $1-$10+ if the surplus is significant
